POSITION SUMMARY

GENERAL SUMMARY

Operators are responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining various Sheetfed printing presses. Conducts basic maintenance tasks if needed and works with Sheetfed helpers on various projects and tasks daily.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Responsible for printing of one to five color jobs.
• Prepares sheetfed press for each new job by hanging plates, ensuring the proper size paper is cut, mixing ink, cleaning press, filling solvent bottles, blending water mixture, lubricating, and changing rollers and sleeves on water rollers.
• Prepares job by running samples to adjust print quality, registration, color settings and mixings.
• Conducts final pre-run inspection of job and approves or confers with supervisor for approval. Responsible for quality of printed work with defined levels of authority.
• Performs preventative maintenance such as lubrication, replacement of small parts, cleaning and minor adjustments to rollers and other small moving parts.
• Documents shop floor activity in Monarch daily.
• Interacts with Commercial Production Manager daily and customers on proofs when needed.
• Complies with safety standards and regulations required by OSHA/MiOSHA.
• Lifts and moves paper onto the press.
• Performs other duties as requested.

EXPERIENCE OR TRAINING REQUIRED OR PREFERRED

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of Sheetfed Press Operator experience, 2-5 years preferred
