Job Summary

The Supervisor, Neuroscience (EEG) is responsible for overseeing daily operations and staff within the Neurodiagnostics department, ensuring high-quality patient care through the performance of electroencephalographic (EEG) and other neurodiagnostic procedures. This role collaborates closely with neurology and clinical teams to coordinate testing activities, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with industry standards. The Supervisor provides leadership, training, and support to technologists, supports departmental goals, and assists with administrative responsibilities including scheduling, budgeting, and quality initiatives.

Essential Functions

  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the Neurodiagnostics (EEG) department, including scheduling, workflow, and staff supervision.
  • Performs or supervises the performance of EEG procedures in various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, sleep lab, and critical care units.
  • Prepares patients for neurodiagnostic testing, explains procedures, and ensures proper placement and monitoring of electrodes.
  • Collects and analyzes neurodiagnostic data, ensuring accuracy and quality for physician interpretation.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining departmental protocols, policies, and procedures in alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards.
  • Collaborates with neurology providers and other departments to support patient care needs and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Assists with equipment maintenance, inventory control, and the implementation of quality assurance programs.
  • May participate in on-call rotation and respond to urgent requests for neurodiagnostic services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
  • Complies with all policies and standards.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Supervision and Staff Management
    • Supervises, trains and oversees departmental staff.
    • Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues.
    • Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.
  • Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
    • Assists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintain high quality service.
    • Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
    • May contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
    • May contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
    • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.
    • May participate in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
    • Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
    • Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • Staff Responsibilities
    • May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or higher preferred
  • 1-2 years of related experience in the profession required
  • 1-2 years of previous leadership experience preferred

  • Proficiency with Google and Microsoft platforms, healthcare software systems, and data analysis tools.

Licenses and Certifications

  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required
  • EEG-R - Electroencephalographic Technician Registration required
  • Additional certifications in neurodiagnostic modalities (e.g., CLTM, CNIM) preferred
