Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented MDS Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and enhancing the quality of care provided to our patients. This position involves coordinating the assessment and documentation processes, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and utilizing various healthcare management systems.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients to determine their needs and eligibility for services.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to improve clinical documentation and ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Utilize electronic health record systems such as Epic and Athenahealth for documentation and data management.
- Participate in utilization review processes to assess the appropriateness of care provided.
- Engage in medical management activities, including managed care coordination and HEDIS reporting.
- Provide training and support to staff on MDS processes, coding, and documentation improvement initiatives.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in regulations related to MDS assessments and documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in home care or within a Level I Trauma Center is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding practices and clinical documentation improvement strategies.
- Familiarity with managed care principles and HEDIS measures is a plus.
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems, particularly Epic and Athenahealth.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with healthcare professionals across disciplines.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
