We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in and check-out, and administrative support. This role requires excellent communication skills, proficiency with dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing processes. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient service.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival and departure.
- Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing inquiries.
- Collect payments, process co-pays, and perform medical collections when necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records within EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including updating medical history and demographic information.
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette; schedule appointments efficiently.
- Manage filing of dental records, medical records, and other administrative documents.
- Support office management tasks such as data entry, typing reports, and maintaining office supplies.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations including ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical terminology standards.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries promptly and courteously.
- Assist in coordinating care plans and follow-up appointments as needed.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a dental clinic or medical office environment is highly preferred; dental office experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with EMR/EHR systems like Epic or Meditech is desirable.
- Knowledge of medical billing, coding (ICD-10/ICD-9/CPT), insurance verification, and health information management.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and typing proficiency (10 key typing).
- Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus.
- Ability to handle administrative tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in documentation review.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
