Chief Advancement Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and strategic Chief Advancement Officer to lead our organization’s fundraising, development, and external relations efforts. This pivotal role involves cultivating meaningful relationships with donors, partners, and community stakeholders to advance our mission. The Chief Advancement Officer will develop innovative strategies to increase revenue streams through grants, events, digital marketing, and donor engagement initiatives. By leveraging a comprehensive understanding of nonprofit management and fundraising best practices, this leader will drive sustainable growth and elevate our organization’s visibility and impact. There will also be an opportunity for incentive based compensation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for fundraising, alumni relations, and community engagement aligned with organizational goals.
• Lead all aspects of donor cultivation, stewardship, and relationship management to build a robust supporter base.
• Oversee the planning, coordination, and management of fundraising events, ensuring maximum participation and revenue generation.
• Manage digital marketing campaigns across platforms such as social media, email marketing tools like Mailchimp and Constant Contact, and website content using WordPress.
• Write compelling grant proposals and funding requests to secure grants from government agencies, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Maintain accurate data collection within CRM systems such as Salesforce to track donor activity, campaign effectiveness, and fundraising progress.
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop targeted campaigns that enhance public relations efforts and increase visibility in the community.
• Oversee the management of databases and CRM software to ensure data integrity for effective outreach and reporting.
• Negotiate sponsorships, partnerships, and estate planning opportunities including wills, trusts, and estate law considerations.
• Lead volunteer management initiatives to foster community involvement and support organizational events.
• Prepare detailed reports on fundraising performance, budget adherence, and strategic outcomes for senior leadership.

Skills

• Proven expertise in event planning, events management, and coordinating large-scale fundraising activities.
• Strong proficiency with CRM software such as Salesforce, Mailchimp, Constant Contact, and WordPress.
• Excellent negotiation skills for securing sponsorships, partnerships, and estate planning arrangements.
• Ability to collect data effectively for research purposes that inform strategic decision-making.
• Exceptional relationship management skills to engage donors, volunteers, partners, and community stakeholders.
• Experience in public relations campaigns that enhance organizational reputation through media outreach and social media management.
• Skilled proposal writer with a track record of successful grant applications for nonprofit organizations.
• Knowledge of budgeting processes related to fundraising events and campaigns.
• Familiarity with digital marketing strategies including email marketing campaigns via Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
• Understanding of nonprofit management principles along with university experience or working within educational institutions is a plus.
• Strong research capabilities combined with expertise in social media management to maximize outreach efforts.
• Knowledge of Wills, trusts & estate law relevant to estate planning initiatives within nonprofit contexts.
