What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Technician I & II position at GRAND TARGHEE RESORT LLC?

 

SUMMARY 

Performs preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs throughout Grand Targhee Resort facilities to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and employees. Works across a variety of building systems including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, drywall, painting, and general building maintenance while responding to maintenance requests in a timely mannerAssists with seasonal operations, snow removal, special events, and other resort needs. Every Facilities Technician serves as a Targhee ambassador by providing friendly, professional service to guests and coworkers.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs involving plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, HVAC, doors, windows, fixtures, and general building systems.

  1. Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs while minimizing disruption to resort operations and the guest experience.

  1. Work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with the Facilities team and other resort departments.

  1. Safely work from ladders, rooftops, aerial lifts, and other elevated work platforms while following all safety procedures.

  1. Safely operate or learn to operate resort equipment including forklifts, skid steers, snow removal equipment, and other department machinery.

  1. Assist with winter operations including snow removal, ice mitigation, parking operations, and event setup as assigned. 

  1. Perform daily pool/spa maintenance, including water testing, chemical balancing, and required detailed documentation.

  1. Work a flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, holidays, and overtime, as business needs require. Some job sharing may be required.

  1. Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, confined space, fall protection, and other applicable safety procedures.

  1. Support resort operations by assisting other departments during peak business periods, special events, emergencies, or operational needs.

  1. Other duties as assigned.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES TO SAFETY:

 

  1. Protect the safety of self-workers, and Grand Targhee Resort guests.

  1. Report any potentially harmful equipment or situations to the immediate supervisor without delay.

  1. Report safety-related accidents and incidents at once to immediate supervisor.

  1. Follow all company and department safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Resort’s Occupational Safety & Health Compliance Manual and department-specific procedures or manuals.

  1. Operate equipment safely so that it will not lead to injury to yourself or others.

  1. Drive in accordance with the law and Grand Targhee Resort policies.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

WORK SCHEDULE  

Due to the nature of the recreation industry, we are in operation seven days a week. This includes weekends and holidays and there is no guarantee of hours. Flexible working hours may be required based on the business levels. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

Facilities Technician I: 
High school diploma or equivalent required. One-year certificate from a technical or trade school, or at least one (1) year of related facilities, maintenance, property management, or building systems experience preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, drywall, painting, and general building maintenance is preferred.

Facilities Technician II: 
Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, property management, or a related trade; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated ability to perform a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks with limited supervision. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS 

Ability to add, subtractmultiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Able to accurately read and make measurements. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS  

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondenceAbility to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to communicate professionally with guests, coworkers, contractors, and resort leadership. 

 

REASONING ABILITY  

Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Stressful situations may be encountered, and the successful applicant will be able to remain calm, think clearly and logically, while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Ability to diagnose maintenance issues, prioritize work assignments, identify root causes, and make sound decisions while maintaining guest service and safety standards.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear.  The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Regularly works in snow, ice, mud, rain, wind, heat, and varying mountain weather conditions. Uses power tools and hand tools on a regular basis. Frequently climbs ladders and stairs. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  

  

Work iperformed indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, including snow, rain, heat, wind, and extreme cold. Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; and risk of electrical shock, loud noise, uneven terrain, and elevated work surfaces.
