POSITION TITLE: Technology/Media Integration Specialist
BUILDING: Grand Rapids Christian Elementary School, Evergreen Campus
CONTRACT: Part-time, Shared Time
REPORTS TO: GRCS Executive Director of Technology and the Evergreen Principal
COORDINATES WITH: Building Staff, Learning Commons and Technology Teams, Academic Program Coordinators
POSITION SUMMARY
The Technology/Media Integration Specialist teaches scheduled library and technology classes, guiding students in literacy, research skills, digital citizenship, technology literacy, and creative problem-solving. The teacher manages the Learning Commons as an organized, welcoming hub that supports reading, exploration, and access to resources and technology.
In collaboration with classroom teachers, this role supports instruction across the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) by integrating inquiry-based learning and STEAM practices into transdisciplinary units, and by curating high-quality resources that enhance teaching and learning.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Support and Direct Students in their Learning
Instruct students in integrated technology, media, and STEAM experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, inquiry, and global awareness while building skills aligned to ISTE and AASL Standards.
Design learning experiences that support student agency, transdisciplinary connections, and the development of reflective, responsible learners.
Promote reading, literacy, and research skills through inquiry-based learning and collaboration with classroom instruction.
Model and teach digital citizenship, guiding students to be discerning, ethical, and Christ-like users of digital and print resources.
Support Staff with Technology and Media
Lead and support the mission of the learning commons, equipping students and staff to be thoughtful users and creators of information that reflects the diversity of God’s world.
Provide professional learning and coaching in technology and media integration.
Collaborate with staff to design and implement media-rich learning experiences that align with curriculum goals.
Support and facilitate student-centered media and technology projects that encourage voice, choice, and authentic learning in alignment with the IB PYP philosophy.
Manage the Learning Commons/Resources
Maintain a welcoming, organized, and effective learning environment.
Oversee library and technology resources, including inventory, purchasing, access to materials, and tier 1 technology support coordinating with district technology staff as needed.
Support school-wide NWEA MAP assessment setup and proctoring as needed.

Engage in ongoing professional learning and collaboration to stay current with curriculum and emerging technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS
Current State of Michigan teaching certificate with the appropriate state of Michigan certification
Preferred - Experience managing a learning commons/library and leadership in technology integration
