Grand Primary Care is a private practice Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine outpatient clinic in Grandville. This is a full-time (36 hours per week), on-site Medical Assistant role, $19.68-$23 per hour. What is Lifestyle Medicine?
Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based medical specialty that applies therapeutic lifestyle interventions to treat, reverse, and prevent chronic conditions like cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, and overweight/obesity. Duties
- Answer phone calls to schedule appointments and respond to patient inquiries
- Perform patient intake by collecting medical histories, updating records, and verifying insurance information using athenahealth Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature to assist clinicians in diagnosis and treatment planning
- Perform point of care testing, including, but not limited to, rapid strep tests, influenza tests, COVID tests, urinalysis, and EKGs
- Assist with clinical procedures including medication administration, wound care, and immunization administration
- Manage medical documentation with accuracy to ensure proper billing and record keeping
- Prepare examination rooms by cleaning equipment, setting up supplies for procedures, and maintaining a clean environment
- Provide excellent patient service by answering questions, offering reassurance, and coordinating follow-up appointments
Requirements
- Certification or Registration as a Medical Assistant is required for this role
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification
- Familiarity with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other relevant laws to ensure compliance
- Reliable transportation
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology to support accurate patient assessments
- Experience with athenahealth EHR system for documentation, scheduling, and billing purposes in outpatient or hospital settings
- Ability to perform clinical tasks such as conducting vital signs assessments and administering immunizations
- Excellent patient service skills with a caring attitude toward diverse populations
- Proficient with typewritten and verbal communication
- Knowledge of ICD coding standards for accurate diagnosis documentation
- Competence in handling intake processes efficiently while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations and safety standards
