Hours of Job
- Full Time - 1st Shift - Monday-Friday
- Rotation in afterhours and weekend on-call
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Investigates, analyzes, and resolves hardware and associated software and communications problems on hospital computer systems. Performs complex hardware repairs and maintenance on a wide range of pc-based computers and peripherals.
- Evaluates existing computer systems hardware and performs system upgrades based on customer needs.
- Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.
- Assumes the responsibilities for the design and implementation of systems to meet user needs.
- Prepares detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining systems capabilities and processes.
- Research and recommend hardware, software, and operating systems.
- Monitors the hardware and software systems using available systems utilities.
- Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise.
- Record and maintain hardware and software inventories, site and/or server licensing, and user access and security.
- Work as a team member with other technical staff, such as networking to ensure connectivity and compatibility between systems.
- Write and maintain system documentation.
- Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network.
- Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.
Requirements
- Ability to work independently, with little or no supervision.
- Analytical and progressive critical thinking skills are a must.
- Has working knowledge of computer networking concepts, including LAN/WAN architectures, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and network segmentation.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting network connectivity issues in multi-user environment.
- Knowledge of server/desktop administration, and virtualization.
- Knowledge of firewall technologies and VPNs.
Education/Certifications
- Minimum of an Associate Degree in Computer Technology.
Experience
- 5-7 years’ experience on computer system comparable to current installed system.
