Responsibilities
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curricula that promote childhood development, creativity, and social skills.
- Manage classroom behavior through positive reinforcement, clear expectations, and effective behavior management techniques.
- Supervise children during indoor activities, outdoor play, and meals to ensure safety at all times.
- Facilitate youth group activities such as sports, arts and crafts, and educational games to encourage active participation.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to first aid protocols, CPR procedures, and emergency response plans.
- Collaborate with team members to plan special events, camp experiences, or themed activities that enhance learning opportunities.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding children's progress, behavior, and program updates to foster strong relationships.
Requirements
- Must be 18 or older
- Position is Monday through Friday, 2:30-6:00pm.
- Must have completed 12 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, or School Age courses. Elementary Teacher Education Courses are included.
- Must be able to pass fingerprinting and background check.
Duties:
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children under your care
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities to promote their physical, emotional, and cognitive development
- Assist with homework and provide tutoring support as needed
- Supervise children during playtime, ensuring their safety at all times
- Manage behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and appropriate discipline strategies
- Maintain a clean and organized childcare space
- Communicate effectively with parents, providing regular updates on their child's progress
Requirements:
- Strong classroom management skills combined with the ability to motivate and engage children of various ages.
- Ability to supervise children outdoors during activities such as sports coaching or nature exploration; outdoor work experience is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills for working with children, parents, staff members, and community partners.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with the ability to facilitate youth programs effectively while maintaining a positive environment.
