Administrative Fellow
Job purpose
The Administrative Fellow supports the daily operations of the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce by providing administrative, customer service, and event support that increases organizational capacity.
This fellowship is designed for individuals seeking meaningful professional experience while developing practical business administration, organizational, and customer service skills. The Fellow will gain firsthand exposure to the operations of a leading business organization while working alongside Chamber leadership and interacting with business owners, community leaders, elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and regional partners.
Success in this role requires professionalism, adaptability, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to serve others. The Administrative Fellow must be comfortable balancing multiple priorities, responding to changing needs, and contributing to a collaborative team that values excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.
This is a part-time, hourly position. Work schedules may vary based on organizational needs and Chamber events, including occasional early morning or evening hours.

Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Member Experience
Support Chamber members, visitors, and community partners while delivering exceptional customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with greeting visitors and answer incoming phone calls.
- Respond to general inquiries or direct individuals to the appropriate staff member.
- Assist members with basic Chamber services, resources, and information.
- Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming reception area.
Administrative Operations
Support the Chamber's daily operations through administrative coordination and organizational support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist with scheduling, document preparation, filing, data entry, and record maintenance.
- Support membership database updates and administrative processes.
- Prepare meeting materials, correspondence, and reports.
- Monitor office supplies and assist with maintaining an organized office environment.
Organizational Support
Provide flexible support across departments to help the Chamber operate efficiently and deliver exceptional service to its members.
Key responsibilities include:
· Provide administrative and logistical support to Chamber staff while following established processes and procedures.
· Assist with special projects, data entry, document preparation, and organizational initiatives.
· Support Chamber programs, events, membership activities, and office operations by following established processes and procedures.
· Complete routine administrative and operational tasks that increase organizational capacity and improve efficiency.
· Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Chamber's mission.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework toward or completion of a certificate, associate's degree, or bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, Public Administration, or a related field is preferred.
· Previous customer service, administrative, hospitality, retail, office, or event experience is preferred but not required.
· Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new software and technology platforms.
· Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a collaborative team.
· Demonstrated professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
· Demonstrates curiosity, initiative, and a desire to learn about business operations, community leadership, and professional development.

· Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for occasional local travel and Chamber events.

Working conditions
· Primarily office-based with regular interaction with members, visitors, and community partners.
· Work is performed in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
· Regular use of computers, office equipment, and standard business software.
· Occasional travel within Mesa County for Chamber events and meetings.
· Some early morning, evening, and occasional weekend hours may be required to support Chamber programs and events.
Physical requirements
· Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday.
· Lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 25 pounds.
· Ability to assist with event setup and breakdown.
· Adequate vision and hearing to perform computer work, communicate effectively, and engage with members and community partners.
Hourly Range: $16-18 per hour
