About the Position
- Technical Specialist
- Full-time 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
- Days Call
- Onsite at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital
Job Summary:
The Technical Specialist provides technology support in the areas of network management, hardware and software standards definition; desktop installation, internet/intranet features and utilization, phone system service, technology needs analysis, and user account setup and maintenance.
Here's what you'll do when you join us:
- Consults with business staff on hardware, operating system software, desktop software, and network connectivity requirements.
- Serves as project manager for selected technical analysis and/or implementation projects, and coordinates installation schedules and activities with vendors and users. Utilize a prescribed project management methodology.
- Manages all aspects the Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital network infrastructure including network servers, hubs, routers, and external network and communications providers.
- Analyzes system interface/integration technical requirements, creates integration design specifications, and collaborates with the system analyst and vendors on development, testing, and implementation activities.
- Provides end-user software training support, either hands-on or vendor supplied for desktop software (i.e. MS Office products, Outlook). Conducts needs analysis, arranges for training sessions with the applicable vendor, schedules presenters and facilities, and manages enrollment.
- Conducts research and maintains up-to-date knowledge of networking technologies, wiring and connectivity topologies, and network server operating systems. Recommends options to embrace industry trends or standards relative to technical architecture components or design.
- Designs standard network or application server configurations, personal computer hardware and software configurations, and desktop or network printers.
- Installs and supports all server based software, standard desktop software, and user-specific application software.
- Installs and supports all desktop hardware (personal computers) and/or manages the hardware installation by a third party vendor.
- Sets up and maintains user accounts and manages system access security and controls.
- Manages and maintains the Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital intranet site.
- Manages the relationship and provides designs specifications to an outsourced webmaster for the Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital website.
- Provides phone system support for additional equipment requirements, phone system feature analysis and implementation, problem resolution, connectivity considerations, and vendor management.
If you have these qualifications, we'd love to chat:
- Microsoft 2008 and/or 2012 certification or 2 years' experience preferred. Other related certifications are beneficial.
- Experience with Network protocols; LAN/WAN based networks, cabling systems, firewalls, UPS power systems, routers and switches.
- Ability to analyze complex technology problems, determines the applicable solution, and direct or coordinate the implementation.
- Ability to install, upgrade, and troubleshoot network or application servers, routers, hubs, personal computers, printers, and storage devices.
- Understands system integration techniques and able to analyze and design the appropriate technical interfaces.
- Must be innovative and aggressive in the quest for responsive, cost-effective, and state-of-the-art technologies.
- Must possess good inter-personal skills.
- Possess a minimum of two years network support in a complex business and technological environment and/or associates degree in computer related field.
- Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
- Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.
