Grand Isle Supervisory Union is seeking an energetic and caring Special Education Paraeducator to provide instructional support to students. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, 1:1 Support and/or small group, consultation and communication with teachers.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, in addition to the following:
Associate degree, two years of undergraduate course completion, or successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment.
Interest and aptitude for working with children.
Experience with students with disabilities or related experience and basic knowledge of special education.
Assist individual students and small groups of students with skill development and other related activities.
Assist the instructor by directly implementing lesson plans and educational interventions.
Assist the instructor with maintaining program order by observing and monitoring the activities of students. These activities may be in or out of the classroom setting.
Observe, monitor and provide proactive behavioral direction to students.
Collect data on IEP goals and other target areas, under the direction of the administrator, instructor, behavior specialist or school psychologist.
Be responsive to the unique needs of each student
Assist in physical development independent access to communication, personal hygiene (i.e. feeding, grooming, toileting), academic learning and vocational skills.
Supervise students within the classroom, outdoors, in the community and during field trips
Ability to be a flexible team player and have positive and effective communication skills.
Commitment to self-growth and willingness to participate in recommended educational and training opportunities.
Able to uphold ethical and professional standards of conduct.

The hourly rate of pay is $18.70 - $23.65 per hour.
