Purpose

The MTSS/Assessment Coordinator position is designed to address inequities that create barriers for student success. The MTSS/Assessment Coordinator is responsible for supporting the implementation of the district's Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model and vision and overseeing all aspects of the assessment framework within the school district. The Coordinator will assist in all MTSS procedures, including implementing a balanced assessment system, using data-based decision-making to reinforce student support and drive continuous improvement resulting in enhanced learning outcomes.

Essential Functions

Effectively develop, coordinate, manage, and implement the comprehensive MTSS and Assessment framework to support administrators and teachers in improving student outcomes.

  • Work collaboratively with district administrators, school-based leadership teams, and teachers to facilitate implementation of a multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) at the district and school levels.
  • Monitor the fidelity of implementation of MTSS at school sites, using data to inform and drive actions
  • Coach school sites on analyzing student data and how to use it to guide continuous improvement
  • Deliver professional learning and training on assessment systems focused on data driven decisions for improvement within MTSS.
  • Assist with the development, implementation and evaluation of the comprehensive district and school improvement process and plans.
  • Adheres to federal, state and school district laws, guidelines, rules, policies and procedures and monitors for compliance to the same. This includes the NE Reading Bill.
  • Provide evaluative findings (including student achievement data) for the review of curriculum and instruction program effectiveness.
  • Stays current on best practices through trainings, state meetings, and aligned professional development

Effectively operationalize MTSS and assessment system implementation

  • Ensure fidelity of building level MTSS meetings that include continual application of a structured problem solving process and student data review
  • Develop, maintain, and communicate a comprehensive assessment calendar
  • Support GISH Advanced Placement administration, manage AP data, and plan board recognition
  • Coordinate Early Entry Kindergarten process
  • Create district communication for NDE Individual Student Reports, GIPS parent letters, and other testing communications to be used at the building level (NSCAS, ACT, Reading Bill)
  • Coordinate and support implementation of ACT administration at GISH
  • Coordinate with L4L team district efforts to provide high quality instruction and interventions for academics that are evidence-based and aligned with student needs
  • Plan and provide training for teachers, administrators, and staff on requirements of the state assessment program and the state and federal accountability programs.
  • Establish and revise written policies, practices/procedures detailed in the D187 MTSS Guidebook.
  • Develop, lead, coordinate a sustainable Professional Learning Plan
  • Organize, coordinate, and lead district MTSS Chair meetings in collaboration with L4L coordinators
  • Review student academic and functional data frequently to provide consultation to L4L coordinators and building leadership about changes in instructional practices
  • Provide technical assistance to curriculum coordinators in the development and implementation of local assessments.
  • Assist buildings in Interpreting assessment results (MAP, AIMsWeb, AQuESTT results/classifications, goal setting around AQueSTT, understanding of calculations and designations)
  • Plan and conduct professional development, training, and workshops on administration of progress monitoring tools and test proctoring in schools, test security and ethics, access to and utilization of test results, and necessary technology training.
  • Assist staff in triangulating multiple data sources to use as evidence of student progress and to monitor the school improvement plan.
  • Engage in professional development and technical training to maintain expertise in best practices and legal requirements for large scale assessments and to foster continuous professional growth.
