Job Summary:
As a Medical Coder with Grand Island Clinic, you will play a crucial role in maintaining compliance with industry regulations and helping facilitate the smooth operation of our billing processes. You will be responsible for accurately translating patient information into standardized codes for billing and insurance purposes. This role is an on-site position, and prior experience in medical coding is preferred.

Essential Job Functions:
- Review and analyze patient medical records to identify all pertinent diagnoses and procedures for coding.
- Assign appropriate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes to patient records based on established coding guidelines.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of coded data for use in financial reporting, billing, and clinical research.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses and procedures, as necessary.
- Monitor and update coding practices to comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Assist in resolving coding-related issues with insurance companies and other payers.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations.
- Participate in regular training and professional development activities to stay current with coding changes and updates.
- Various duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Effective communication skills to interact with healthcare providers and administrative staff.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and coding software.
- Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and billing processes.
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of medical coding experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Occasional standing, walking, and reaching.
