Summary of Work:
- The primary responsibility of this position is to assist in developing and implementing each Overall Service Plan (OSP) while fostering the growth of personal outcomes for the people we support at GFGSC. This includes assisting and/or encouraging the people we support to ensure their rights, freedom of choice, and safety are upheld.
- This role involves working within the facility and accompanying those we support in the community. Candidates should demonstrate respect and kindness toward the people we support.
- This position is classified as non-exempt, making employees eligible for overtime pay.
Job Description:
- Supporting growth, independence and providing care for adults with disabilities during the hours of 7:45 - 4:30 Monday through Friday, totaling 40 hours per week. A person in this position should be compassionate, caring, positive and willing to work within our team to provide high quality support. Having creativity while leading fun, educational and intentional activities and providing positive behavioral support are also important for a person in this role. The physical demands of this job entail: medium to high-paced activity, lifting 50 lbs. or more, and medium to high reaction speed. Specific Task Requirements:
Basic Support and Agency Policies:
- Support people with disabilities to achieve their goals and personal outcomes that are listed in their Overall Service Plan.
- Provide overall daily support and assistance to the people that you are assigned to support.
- Support people with disabilities on community outings.
- Maintain data with and/or of the people that we support.
- Support adults with disabilities with their personal care needs.
- Implement the overall goals, Contract of excellence and mission of Grand Forks Growth and Support Center (GFGSC).
- Notify a supervisor when leaving the building, complete the sign out sheet and submit a time off slip.
- Attend morning meetings, staff meetings and trainings
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of both the people we support and fellow staff members, both inside and outside of GFGSC.
- Help to maintain a clean, safe and presentable work site.
- Report all suspected incidences of possible Abuse, Neglect, Exploitation and/or maltreatment to a supervisor. Participate in investigations regarding Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation, when asked to do so.
- Other duties as assigned.
Promoting Independence:
- Encourage the people that we support to be as involved in their own lives as much as possible.
- Support/ Assist people to take their medications following the medication guidelines.
- Support people with disabilities to increase their independence.
- Actively Support people to direct the course of their own lives
- Support people to be as involved as possible in their personal tasks.
Engagement:
- Provide and maintain safety and fun both in the building and in community.
- Engage and interact with the people that we support on a continual basis.
- Keep personal conversations with co-workers to a minimum while supporting people with disabilities.
- Facilitate educational and action based activities throughout the day.
- Support people with disabilities to form, foster and maintain natural (unpaid) friendships with their peers and community members.
- Be a positive role model to those we support, community members and coworkers.
- Communicate with the people we support, members of the leadership team, Program Specialists and Direct Support Professionals to assist in the care, coordination, and safety of the people we support.

- Completion of drug screen upon hire (arranged by GFGSC, once hired).
- Up-to-date driver’s license and Insurance
- Must be 21
