The Charter Township of Grand Blanc is seeking an Assessing Appraiser, at the Level I (MCAT) or Level II (MCAO). SALARY RANGE:
Appraiser I $51,696 - $54,861 yearly
Appraiser II $59,414 - $63,051 yearly
Appraiser III $64,529 - $68,478 yearly
Some of the duties the Assessing Appraiser shall be responsible for are reviewing and entering deed information, PTA and PRE paperwork in Equalizer database. Updating and appraising new construction to determine true cash value and establish property assessments. Performing on-site appraisals of residential property to determine the true cash value and establish property assessments. Assisting Assessor with appraisal of commercial/industrial properties, preparation of special assessment roll, processing of Personal Property. Assisting the public in assessing related inquiries. Review residential building plans, inspect, measure, sketch, and value miscellaneous new residential construction. Perform various other related duties as assigned.
Successful applicants shall have:
- Skilled in basic math procedures.
- Ability to perform a visual inspection, take measurements, and determine the square footage of new and existing construction.
- Ability to communicate orally, in writing, and act in a diplomatic manner while dealing with stressful situations.
- Ability to prioritize workload and meet established deadlines.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to successfully pass a drug screen and extensive background check
Preferred skills:
- Basic Assessing knowledge.
- Ability to read legal descriptions.
- Knowledge of Principal Residence Exemptions, Property Transfer Affidavits, Veteran Exemptions, and Small Business Personal Property Exemptions.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- MCAT Certification, or ability to obtain within six months of employment, MCAO, or MAAO Certification.
Experience with the following software:
- Must be familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Preferred proficiency with Assessing BS&A and APEX sketching software’s.
- Preferred ability to read construction drawings or understand basic Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software

Salary : $25 - $33
