Customer Service Teller
Job Description
The Teller/CSR position is responsible for providing excellent service to bank clients by conducting appropriate teller transactions, answering common product or online banking questions, and performing account maintenance.
The selected candidate will ensure the financial service needs of each customer are met promptly, accurately, and courteously. This position requires bank product knowledge, attention to detail, and strong in person and telecommunication skills.
Responsibilities
- Explains, promotes, and sells products such as checking, savings, or certificates of deposits
- Accepts deposits, confirming accuracy of transaction
- Prepares, verifies, and issues Official Bank Checks and wire transfers
- Enters transactions in bank’s recordkeeping system, recording all transactions and producing customer receipts
- Evaluates checks to verify endorsements, funds availability, dates, identification of persons receiving payments, bank names, and overall legality of the documents
- Maximizes all relationship deepening opportunities to promote new banking products and services if a customer need is identified
- Balances all monies in cash drawer as well as all teller work
- Answers basic customer inquiries regarding service charges and account histories while complying with disclosure requirements, regulations, and consumer privacy policies.
- Handles customer complaints and escalates issues to supervisor as needed.
- Assists with monthly audits of all negotiable items
- Assists with related ATM duties - balancing, first line maintenance, etc.
- Place holds on accounts for uncollected funds when appropriate
- Maintains an efficient work area that ensures the safety of all negotiables and confidential records
- Assists clients with online banking and mobile applications
- Opens and closes safe deposit boxes
- Creates lasting customer relationships
- Assists customers via lobby, telephone, and drive through window
- Completes assigned training related to applicable products, services, and Bank Regulations in a timely manner
- Dresses professionally
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent is required (some college is preferred)
Experience
- At least one year of prior teller experience is preferred
- Prior cash handling experience required
