CONTRACT DAYS: 226 (varies with position)

 

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

   

Direct and manage the instructional program and supervise operations and personnel at the campus level.  Provide instructional leadership to insure high standards of instructional service.  Direct the implementation of District policies, instructional programs, and the operation of all campus activities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

   

    Education/Certification:

    Master's degree in educational administration

    Texas Mid-Management or other appropriate Texas certificate

    Certified TPESS & TTESS appraiser

 

   Special Knowledge/Skills:

   Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction;

    The ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness;

    The ability to manage budget and personnel and coordinate campus functions;

    The ability to explain policy, procedures, and data;

    Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills;

    Prior experience in instructional leadership roles;

    Other qualifications deemed necessary by the Board

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

 INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT

 1.1      Monitors the use of board approved high quality instructional materials (HQIM) for delivery of instruction.

            

1.2       Monitors student achievement as indicated by measurable evaluation methods, including      

            benchmarks, to meet district and campus goals.

 

1.3       Diagnoses student needs.

 

1.4       Monitors student attendance to achieve district and campus goals, using measurable data to monitor.

 

1.5       Supports teachers instructionally through instructional coaching, PLCs, and other support systems.

 

1.6       Assists teachers in designing learning experiences for students.

 

1.7       Encourages the development and recommendation of innovative instruction programs to the district.

 

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL MORALE

 

2.1       Fosters positive school/campus morale through various activities.

 

2.2       Assesses and plans improvement of the campus environment

 

2.3       Reinforces excellence.

 

2.4      Promotes a positive, caring climate of learning.

 

2.5      Uses effective communication skills.

 

2.6      Develops campus organizational structure which ensures that the staff communicates (talks) with each      

           other.

 

2.7      Conducts regular conferences with campus staff, as appropriate.

 

2.8      Promotes team building at both campus level and district level.

 

2.9      Provides leadership to promote positive school climate on campus.

 

2.10    Communicates with central office staff regularly with regard to all aspects of campus concerns and needs.

 

2.11    Follows chain of command in organizational chart when seeking resolution of challenges or problems.

 

2.12    Shows prudence in matters of confidential nature and shares on need-to-know basis.

 

2.13    Enforces all administrative procedures in a non-ambiguous and appropriate method.

 

2.14    Assists in development and recommendation of new policies as needed.

 

SCHOOL/ORGANIZATIONAL IMPROVEMENT

 

3.1      Collaborates in the development of a common vision of continuous improvement.

 

3.2      Articulates the common vision of the campus to parents, community, and staff.

 

3.3      Encourages appropriate risk-taking.

 

3.4      Ensures continuous renewal of curriculum, policies, procedures and methods.

 

3.5      Leads Campus Leadership Team through development/revision of the campus improvement plan to meet

           unique needs of campus student body.

 

3.6      Coordinates budgetary recommendations to goals of campus improvement plan.

 

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT

 

4.1      Delegates appropriately.

 

4.2      Recognize exemplary performance of teachers and staff.

 

4.3      Encourages personal and professional growth and leadership among the staff.

 

4.4      Complies with applicable personnel policies and rules.

 

4.5      Recommends necessary personnel resources to meet objectives.

 

4.6      Evaluates the job performance of all assigned personnel.

 

4.7      Evaluates all supervised employees on campus in timely manner.

 

4.8      Defines roles and responsibilities of administrative team for campus instructional leadership.

 

4.9      Provides accurate information for personnel files for all campus employees, as appropriate.

 

4.10    Provides input for accurate job descriptions for all campus employees.

 

4.11    Recommends faculty and staff which reflect a diversity of styles, philosophies, and ethnic backgrounds

           consistent with the values of the Granbury Community.

 

4.12    Provides a safety training program for all campus employees, as appropriate.

 

4.13    Assists in developing growth plans for campus staff, as appropriate.

 

MANAGEMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE, FISCAL, AND FACILITIES FUNCTIONS.

 

5.1      Obtains broad-based input for fiscal or financial analysis.

 

5.2      Directs the development and management of a reasonable budget designed to meet campus goals.

 

5.3      In a timely manner, presents projected budget, expected enrollment and their impact on the budget.

 

5.4      Meets deadlines on budget calendar.

 

5.5      Explains budget terminology, expenditures and revenues at budget review meeting.

 

5.6      Attends a budget/finance training session as needed.

 

5.7      Manages campus level accounting.

 

5.8/     Ensures that buildings and equipment are clean and free from customer complaints.

 

5.9     Conducts regular safety evaluations of buildings and equipment.

 

5.10   Implements security devices and a security/safety plan.

 

STUDENT MANAGEMENT

 

6.1      Assists students develop a sense of self-worth.

 

6.2      Develops and communicates guidelines for student conduct.

 

6.3      Communicates and implements the Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct to students,                             parents and staff.

 

6.4      Trains campus staff in Discipline Management Plan and Student Code of Conduct.

 

6.5      Disciplines students for misconduct in an effective and fair manner.

 

6.6      Ensures rules and Student Code of Conduct are uniformly observed and enforced.

 

6.7      Encourages participation of students and parents.

 

6.8      Supports collaboration in student management by working with faculty.

 

6.9      Provides a safe environment for student learning.

 

SCHOOL/COMMUNITY RELATIONS

 

7.1      Fosters collaborative educational efforts among members of the district and total school community.

 

7.2      Articulates the campus mission and needs to parents and the community.

 

7.3      Seeks support for school programs.

 

7.4      Includes representations of appropriate groups in planning/decision making.

 

7.5      Informs parents of all school rules.

 

7.6      Presents regular written communications regarding school events, initiatives, needs, progress, etc.

 

7.7      Represents GISD with service or civic groups.

 

PROFESSIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT

 

8.1      Participates actively in professional associations.

 

8.2      Conducts himself/herself in an ethical and professional manner.

 

8.3      Disseminates ideas and information to other professionals.

 

8.4      Seeks and uses evaluative information for improvement of performance.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

    Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned to campus including assistant principal(s), teacher(s), 

    counselor(s), librarian(s), instructional aides and clerical support staff.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

    Mental Demands:

    Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); ability to instruct; maintain emotional control under stress.

 

    Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

    Occasional district and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
