What are the responsibilities and job description for the Attendance Officer position at Granbury High School?

CONTRACT DAYS: 196 days
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Organize and manage the routine work activities of the attendance office, provide clerical services as required to maintain accurate student attendance records.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Proficient skills in typing, word processing, and file maintenance
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Basic math skills
Ability to use personal computer, software to develop spreadsheets and databases, and do word processing
Experience:
Three years of secretarial experience, in a public education environment preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Maintain accurate student attendance records.
2. Process scan sheets, separate and distribute.
3. Scan daily attendance sheets.
4. Maintain and store logs.
5. Make corrections to daily attendance records.
6. Record student suspensions
7. Receive and validate notes from parents, doctors, etc.
8. Determine if the absences are excusable.
9. Issue proper admit slips to students.
10. Excuse absences in the computer.
11. Coordinate student assignments/request assignments from teachers/give to parents.
12. Assist principals, teachers and other staff with attendance information.
13. Help maintain AGR cards.
14. Record ISS attendance.
15. Record extracurricular attendance/maintain UIL absence records.
16. Prepare and maintain individual student attendance files.
17. Run reports as needed:
A. Excessive absences reports
B. Attendance letter reports
C. Semester/yearly Superintendent reports
18. Supervise office aides.
19. Answer phones daily to help any guests calling the school.
20. Maintain current knowledge of the district computer system and attendance laws.
21. Interact with campus administration, teachers, parents and students.
22. Other duties as assigned.
