Position Summary
We are seeking an organized, student-centered Librarian to lead and manage our school library program. The Librarian will foster a love of reading, support student learning and research skills, and ensure the library remains a welcoming and resourceful space for students, faculty, and families.
This role involves maintaining the library collection, integrating technology, collaborating with teachers to support curriculum needs, and teaching information literacy skills. The Librarian will also play a key role in promoting Islamic values through literature and resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, organize, and maintain the school library’s collection of books, digital resources, and reference materials.
- Foster a love for reading by promoting engaging programs such as book fairs, reading challenges, author visits, and literacy events.
- Teach students library and research skills, including responsible use of information and digital resources.
- Support teachers in selecting and accessing instructional resources aligned with curriculum goals.
- Manage library circulation, cataloging, and inventory systems.
- Create a welcoming environment that encourages reading, learning, and exploration.
- Incorporate Islamic literature and resources to promote character development and cultural identity.
- Stay current with trends in library management, educational technology, and literacy development.
- Supervise and guide library volunteers or student helpers when applicable.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Education, English, or a related field.
- At least 2 years of experience working in a school library or related educational setting.
- Strong organizational and cataloging skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with library management software and digital literacy tools.
- Commitment to fostering a love of reading and learning in children.
Desired Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) or equivalent.
- Teaching credential or coursework in education.
- Experience in K–12 school environments.
- Knowledge of Islamic literature and educational resources.
- Ability to integrate technology into library programs and instruction.
- Creative and enthusiastic approach to promoting literacy and student engagement.
Compensation & Benefits
- $60,000 – $65,000/year, commensurate with experience.(10-month)
