The Instructional Coach is an instructional leader for supporting student achievement and literacy proficiency across the district. This role partners directly with grade-span teachers, building administrators, and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to implement and leverage high-impact instructional strategies that ensure academic success for all students. The Coach will use the Student-Centered Coaching model to focus on standards-based student outcomes and support teachers in their professional growth.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree (Leadership, Curriculum & Instruction, or core content area such as reading or math)
  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
  • Minimum five years of successful teaching experience
  • Experience in development, preparation, and presentation of professional development
  • Demonstrated teacher leadership

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise in elementary curriculum areas
  • Knowledge of assessment and lesson design
  • Knowledge of and/or experience serving special populations of learners
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Completed training and/or experiences in LETRS, Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive and/or Morphology, ASPIRE, and Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) is preferred
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including the ability to create and nurture a professional community of adult learners

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Serve as pedagogy expert to assist in the development and implementation of instructional plans that align to district goals and curriculum
  • Work with Director of Curriculum & Instruction and other administration to design and provide professional development focused on improving alignment and delivery of the written, taught and tested curriculum to increase student success and close performance gaps
  • Work with teachers and administration to analyze student data, diagnose instructional needs and identify evidence-based instructional strategies to close achievement gaps
  • Provide job-embedded professional development for teachers through modeling, co-teaching, and providing constructive feedback with the student-centered coaching model
  • Collaborate with administration and teachers to review and develop aligned curriculum components including assessments
  • Provide professional development and training annually to new to the district teachers
  • Manage and distribute instructional resources to teachers and provide needed training on the use of those resources
  • Serve on the district professional learning committee and others as assigned
  • Assist with development of the building school improvement plan (BSIP)
  • Participate in professional development and training opportunities as assigned by building or district administration

  • Improve student and teacher performance in targeted areas as identified
  • Increase in professional learning opportunities
  • Increase participation of staff in professional learning opportunities

Work Environment:

  • 9 month position with 15 extended contract days

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,285.00 - $63,536.00 per year
