Program Description:
The Development Team works with donors, prospects, Foundation and Corporate funders, and government officials to raise unrestricted and restricted funding in support of Graham’s mission.
The Development Team focuses on linking mission to action by attaining funding. Relationship building, superior communications, and deep collaboration are characteristics of the Team and how it effects change internally and externally as key connection agents for Graham.
Principal Objective/Role Overview:
The Major Gift Officer is a full-time position responsible for qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual and other donors to a nonprofit organization. The Major Gift Officer is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with donors, developing and executing fundraising strategies, and ensuring donors are recognized and appreciated for their contributions. The Major Gift Officer will carry a donor portfolio, the number and level of which, along with donor cycle actions, will be mutually agreed upon. The Major Gift Officer reports to the Chief Development Officer.
Job Responsibilities:
- Build relationships with current and prospective donors, understanding their philanthropic interests, and solicit gifts.
- Develop and implement cultivation plans to build relationships, and manage a portfolio of donor prospects, the number of which to be mutually agreed upon.
- Actively strategize and develop relationships through virtual and face-to-face interactions such as personal visits, events, and other methods.
- Steward donors in partnership with the Director, Individual Giving and the Prospect Research and Donor Relations Specialist.
- Consistently record and update actions in the donor cycle; provide insights to improve fundraising strategies.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure consistency of Graham mission and vision.
- In partnership with others, plan and execute fundraising events or convenings as assigned, such as Task Force convenings and cultivation events, donor recognition dinners or exclusive tours.
Position Qualifications:
- 7 years of proven experience in fundraising, particularly with individual giving
- Bachelor’s Degree required, any discipline
- Strong relationship-building and written, non-verbal communication skills.
- Ability to implement fundraising strategies.
- Experience managing a portfolio of donors and prospects.
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices and donor stewardship.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Experience with donor database software; Raisers Edge NXT preferred
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for Graham’s mission.
- Other duties as assigned.
Salary & Compensation:
- Base Salary or Hourly Rate: $130,000.00
- FLSA Status: Exempt
