Job description:
Graham Construction, a commercial general contractor headquartered in Saginaw, MI with additional operations in Southern Florida and North Carolina, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team.
In this role, you will be responsible for developing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for a wide range of construction projects. You will evaluate project plans, specifications, and subcontractor/vendor proposals to ensure all aspects of the project are considered.
Key Responsibilities
The Estimator is responsible for managing the estimating process from pre-bid through final submission. Core responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Analyzing project plans and specifications to prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Utilizing estimating software such as OnCenter and Bluebeam to produce precise quantity take-offs.
- Understanding project scope, requirements, and timelines.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Preparing comprehensive estimates covering labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment costs.
- Collaborating with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Working closely with project management and development teams, including handing off awarded projects for execution.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and navigate Civil, Structural, and Architectural drawings and specifications.
- 5–7 years of construction estimating experience, preferably within a general contracting environment.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
- Highly detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Hands-on experience in estimating carpentry and concrete projects (required).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven planning, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
