Director of Counseling
Position: Full-Time (School Year Plus 20 Days)
The Director of Counseling provides leadership and direct counseling services to support the academic, career, and social-emotional development of all students. The Director oversees a comprehensive school counseling program aligned with the Massachusetts Model, supervises counseling staff, collaborates across grades K–12, and manages key student support systems.
Responsibilities Leadership- Coordinate implementation of a comprehensive counseling program aligned with the Massachusetts Model.
- Develop short- and long-term program objectives to ensure continued and equitable services.
- Review school, student, and program data to ensure counseling programs and department services support the academic, career, and social-emotional development of all students.
- Promote innovative counseling practices by encouraging new procedures and modeling effective practices.
- Coordinate the district-wide Wellness Committee.
- Educate staff, students, parents, and the community about counseling programs and services.
- Maintain and update the counseling webpage and coordinate parent information events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principals.
- Supervise and evaluate counselors, guidance office support staff, and programming at the 7–12 level.
- Establish and maintain a collaborative and effective departmental climate.
- Facilitate regular department meetings focused on school and department goals.
- Collaborate with the Special Education Department to ensure counseling services and programs provide students with disabilities equal opportunities.
- Meet regularly with school counselors to ensure vertical alignment of curriculum and services and continuous improvement of district counseling services.
- Oversee coordination of job shadowing, volunteer opportunities, and related field experiences in collaboration with the College and Career Coordinator.
- Oversee coordination and delivery of national, state, and local scholarships.
- Make recommendations for scholarships and admissions to colleges and community organizations.
- Assist in the coordination of social-emotional learning supports.
- Work with outside agencies to support students impacted by trauma and mental health needs.
- Maintain ongoing records of student progress.
- Ensure compliance with student records laws and regulations.
- Provide applicable student information to schools, colleges, employers, and agencies.
- Collaborate with administrators to create the master schedule.
- Assist in the facilitation of all scheduling changes.
- Manage PowerSchool grade storing, student records, and data accuracy.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of PowerSchool and Naviance platforms.
Salary : $110,000 - $120,000
