The Graettinger-Terril Community School District is seeking a caring, energetic, and student-focused Preschool Paraeducator to support early childhood learners in a positive and engaging educational environment. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the preschool teacher to support instruction, supervision, and the developmental needs of young learners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist the preschool teacher with daily classroom instruction and activities.
- Support students in academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and developmental growth.
- Work with individual students and small groups as directed by the teacher.
- Assist with classroom preparation, organization, and clean-up.
- Supervise students during classroom activities, recess, meals, and transitions.
- Help maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
- Assist students with personal care needs as necessary.
- Support implementation of behavior management strategies.
- Communicate effectively with staff and families while maintaining confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the preschool teacher or administration.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Paraeducator certification or ability to obtain certification as required by Iowa law.
- Experience working with young children preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and families.
- Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
- Successful completion of required background checks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in early childhood education or childcare settings.
- Knowledge of child development and early learning practices.
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification.
