Job Overview
*This role is a PRN-as needed position requiring a minimum of 16hrs worked per month. These hours are flexible.
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher Assistant to support classroom teachers and enhance the learning experience for young children. This role involves working closely with children in classroom settings. The ideal candidate will have a passion for child development, experience working with children, and a strong commitment to fostering a safe and nurturing environment. Candidates with background in childcare, classroom management, and behavior management are highly encouraged to apply.
Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans and activities aligned with developmental goals
- Support children’s emotional, social, and educational needs through attentive caregiving and engagement
- Supervise children during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest periods
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
- Provide individualized support for children with special needs or disabilities as directed by the teacher
- Support behavior management strategies to promote positive conduct and social skills
- Assist with diapering, feeding, and basic health needs of infants and toddlers
- Implement safety protocols including first aid procedures when necessary
- Collaborate with staff to monitor progress and document developmental milestones
Requirements
- Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, babysitting, nannying, or similar environments
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
- Experience with classroom management and behavior management techniques
- Ability to work effectively with children with disabilities or special needs; experience in special education is a plus
- Certification in first aid and CPR preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with educators and parents
- Compassionate attitude with patience and nurturing qualities
- Ability to pass background checks required by licensing regulations or employer policies
