Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Group Supervisor that will strive to promote a positive atmosphere and support the mission of GEM Learning Center. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and possess strong organizational and leadership skills to foster positive development and behavior management within various educational and recreational settings.
This position will lead the classroom and ensure the daily schedule for the program assigned is followed, remains within ratio, compliance is met, and the following responsibilities are completed in full-
Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising children and youth during activities, ensuring safety and engagement
- Support classroom management and behavior management strategies to promote a positive environment
- Help plan, organize, and facilitate educational and recreational activities, aligned with program goals including implementing Daily Lesson Plans
- Collaborate with the Director and staff to implement program policies and procedures
- Support children’s emotional, social, and developmental needs through attentive care and guidance
- Assist with setup and cleanup of activity spaces, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards are maintained
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, staff, and children to foster a supportive community atmosphere
Requirements
- Experience working with children in settings such as daycare, preschool, camp, tutoring, or childcare preferred
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to handle diverse behavioral situations
- CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
- Provide or be willing to work with Program Manager to complete all required background checks
- Experience in sports coaching, theater, babysitting, Christian counseling, or similar roles is a plus
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage positively with children and adults alike
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while demonstrating leadership qualities
