Job description

Gradient Geothermal is seeking a talented and dedicated Systems or Facilities Engineer with a strong focus on design and on-site operations to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of geothermal energy systems and safe facilities. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and hands-on operational experience, with national and international travel of 20-30% to client sites and operational locations.


Key Responsibilities


Design & Engineering:

 - Develop detailed designs for geothermal energy systems, including well field layout, piping, and plant facilities.

 - Utilize advanced software tools and simulation models to optimize system performance and efficiency.

 - Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation, including assisting in creating company specifications.

- Develop and maintain documentation for standard operating procedures (SOPs) and ensure that teams are trained and compliant with established processes.



Project Management:

 - Lead and manage projects from conception through commissioning, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

 - Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including geologists, environmental scientists, and customer construction personnel.

 - Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions as necessary.

- Manage and oversee the implementation of new technologies and tools to enhance process efficiency and overall organizational performance.


On-Site Operations:

 - With safety top of mind, oversee on-site installation, commissioning, and testing of geothermal systems and facilities.

 - Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

 - Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues that arise during construction and operational phases.


Maintenance & Optimization:

 - Develop and implement maintenance schedules and procedures to ensure the long-term reliability and efficiency of geothermal systems.

 - Conduct performance analysis and recommend improvements to enhance system performance and reduce operational costs.

 - Provide training and support to on-site personnel.


Collaboration & Communication:

 - Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure project alignment and compliance.

 - Prepare and present technical reports, project updates, and feasibility studies to internal and external stakeholders.

 - Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team.



Qualifications


- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems/Process Engineering, or a related field.

- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design, construction, and operation of HVAC (or similar) facilities, piping, pumps and heat exchangers.

- Strong knowledge of geothermal energy technologies, including direct use applications and geothermal power plants.

- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB).

- Excellent project management skills with a proven track record of successfully managing complex projects.

- Strong problem-solving abilities and hands-on technical skills.

  • High level of accuracy in following procedures and documenting operations.
  • Vigilance in monitoring operations and identifying potential issues.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed (Travel is national and international 30-40%).

-Strong entrepreneurial drive and self-motivation to help grow the company in a dynamic environment.


Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to climb stairs and work in severe weather conditions.

  • Good physical condition and stamina.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments (e.g., remote locations, harsh weather).
  • The ability to lift at least 20 pounds in awkward positions and 50 pounds from the floor to the waist.


Other Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel to remote locations.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
