What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fifth Grade Teacher position at Graceview Christian School?
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Fifth Grade Teacher with a strong background in classroom instruction and special education practices. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the Abeka curriculum, create a supportive, engaging, and structured learning environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, differentiated instruction aligned with school curriculum and grade-level standards.
- Design and implement lesson plans that engage students in active learning and promote critical thinking.
- Adapt instructional methods and materials to meet individual student needs and learning styles.
- Assess and monitor student progress using both formative and summative assessments; use data to guide instruction.
- Maintain open and effective communication with families regarding student progress, behavior, and needs.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes respect, responsibility, and a love for learning, focusing initially on relationship building with the students.
- Participate in grade-level meetings, professional development, and schoolwide initiatives.
- Uphold all policies and procedures related to confidentiality, safety, and student support.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Special Education experience working with students with special needs strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years classroom teaching experience, preferably in upper elementary grades.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction, behavior intervention strategies, and inclusive education practices.
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to build positive student relationships.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to professional growth and ongoing learning.
Preferred Skills & Competencies
- Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Familiarity with Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks.
- Comfort with technology integration and digital learning tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-based, student-centered environment.
