Responsibilities

  • Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures, including taking vital signs, preparing patients, and supporting with medical documentation.
  • Perform clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS) to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), ensuring accurate documentation of patient histories, diagnoses, treatments, and billing information.
  • Conduct patient intake processes by collecting medical histories, updating records, and explaining procedures clearly to patients.
  • Support medical office operations through scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling administrative duties like insurance verification and ICD coding.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas while adhering to infection control protocols.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in outpatient settings, hospital medicine units, or emergency departments to deliver seamless patient care.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in medical offices or clinical settings such as dermatology, internal medicine, or urgent care is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and medical documentation practices.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and ICD coding standards.
  • Hands-on experience with phlebotomy, medication administration, vital signs measurement, and basic life support (BLS).
  • Inpatient experience at Level I or Level II trauma centers or emergency medicine environments is a strong plus.
  • Familiarity with hospital medicine workflows, outpatient procedures, or geriatrics enhances your ability to support diverse patient populations.
  • Certification in Medical Assisting or related fields is preferred; ongoing training in hospital/OR/ICU environments is advantageous.
