Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive dance curricula tailored to different age groups and skill levels, incorporating various styles such as ballet, jazz, hip-hop, or contemporary dance.
- Lead engaging after-school dance classes that emphasize technique, choreography, musicality, and creative expression.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a safe, respectful, and motivating environment for all students.
- Incorporate elements of theater arts, visual arts, or musical instruments into dance lessons to enhance interdisciplinary learning experiences.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their technical improvement and artistic confidence.
- Collaborate with program coordinators to plan performances or showcases that highlight student progress and celebrate their achievements.
- Maintain organized records of attendance, student progress, and lesson plans while ensuring all safety protocols are followed during classes.
Experience
- Prior experience working with children in educational or extracurricular settings, preferably within youth programs or arts education.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching dance instruction across multiple styles and choreography development.
- Strong background in classroom management and creating inclusive learning environments for diverse student populations.
- Knowledge of curriculum development tailored for creative arts instruction with an emphasis on dance or performing arts.
- Experience working with visual & performing arts, theater productions, or musical performance is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with childhood development principles and methods for engaging young learners through movement-based activities.
- Additional skills in teaching other creative disciplines such as sewing, photography, culinary arts, or theater enhance the ability to deliver well-rounded arts education.
