In this dynamic position, you will support educational and recreational activities, supervise children during after-school hours, and foster positive development through fun and structured programs. Hours will either be from 11:30-5:30 daily or 2:15-5:30 daily.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children during after-school hours, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Facilitate a variety of youth group activities, including arts, sports, games, and educational projects
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive conduct and conflict resolution
- Assist with the planning and execution of special events, outings, and outdoor activities
- Support classroom management techniques in both structured learning sessions and free-play periods
- Maintain clear communication with parents, staff, and program coordinators regarding children's progress and needs
- Follow first aid protocols promptly in case of injuries or emergencies, including administering CPR and first aid
Requirements
- Experience working with children in educational, childcare, camp, or youth program settings
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and promote a positive environment
- Certification in First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)
- Strong child supervision skills with a focus on safety during indoor and outdoor activities
- Background in special education or experience working with children with diverse needs is a plus
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members, parents, and community partners
- Physical ability to engage in outdoor work and active play with children in various settings
