POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for performing a variety of kitchen duties as directed by the Executive Chef and/or Manager/Supervisor on duty. Primary tasks include dishwashing, kitchen cleaning, transport of supplies and other duties as directed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Scrape soiled dishes, pots and pans and place them in a dish machine.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans and other food service items through the dish machine.
• Operate the automated dish washing solution dispensing system.
• Maintains steady work pace to produce an adequate supply of clean kitchen utensils and dishes and pots and pans.
• Sort clean dishes and check for any dirty or damaged china/dishes.
• Assess problems and/or breakdown in dishwasher. Report to supervisor on duty.
• Check for dishes to be properly racked or dried (no wet stacking of dishes)
• Restock clean dishware, pots and other items to designated storage racks and/or shelves, counters or storage location.
• Follow directions to clean work area including floors, walls, sinks, racks and trash cans as scheduled daily, weekly and/or listed on Cleaning Checklist. Complete any other cleaning assignment by Executive Chef/Supervisor/Manager.
• Clean food lowerators, cups, glasses, soup bowls and coffee cups on a scheduled basis.
• Set up sanitation solution for sanitizing buckets as directed.
• Empty trash containers in kitchen when filled during shift. Rinse all cans before placing a clean liner in them.
• Breakdown cardboard boxes into recycling bin and empty into recycling dumpster.
• Transport food carts to and from the resident areas including healthcare, personal care and independent living.
• Clean out food supplies in food carts daily.
• Clean, scrub and sanitize food carts as scheduled.
• Sweep and mop kitchen floors, refrigerators and service areas on a scheduled basis.
• Assist in food service and production tasks when directed.
• Attend department meetings, inservice training programs for Dietary Service employees.
• Complete Relias inservices as required. Must schedule independently before/after shift or as directed by Executive Chef
• Observe infection control procedures related to the Dietary Department
• Follow Resident’s Rights policies at all times.
• Adheres to facility safety programs.
• Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
• Adheres to department standards of dress—safety shoes, head covering and designated uniform.
• Able to work independently and/or in a team.
• Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner.
• Be accountable for data contained in employees’ handbook.
• Adheres to the Values and Expectations statement and compliance program.
• Perform other related duties as directed by Supervisor, Executive Chef and/or Director of Dietary Services.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum: Some High School

Preferred: High School Diploma
