Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer devices
- Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature; document findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks
- Support medication administration under supervision, ensuring proper techniques and adherence to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy and confidentiality
- Provide specialized care for patients with memory impairments, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease, utilizing techniques like memory care strategies and aseptic techniques for infection control
- Assist with medical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy, wound dressing changes, and basic life support (BLS) when needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care settings like Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers, ICU units, PICUs (Pediatric Intensive Care Units), or emergency departments to deliver timely patient service
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records while ensuring compliance with healthcare standards and safety protocols
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospitals (medical-surgical, ICU, emergency medicine), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and infection control practices such as aseptic technique
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Cerner or eClinicalWorks for documentation and patient record management
- Experience with specialized patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, behavioral health patients or individuals with disabilities
- Ability to perform catheter care, vital signs monitoring, medication administration and basic life support efficiently and accurately
- Demonstrated compassion in caregiving roles involving dementia care or working with individuals with developmental disabilities
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams across outpatient clinics or inpatient units
