What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual Front Desk Technician/Medical Assistant (Spanish and English Speaking) position at Grace Emergency Room?
We are seeking an experienced, highly motivated Front Desk Technician/Medical Assistant for our ER day shift position. The Front Desk Technician/Medical Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the check-in and check-out process, resolving conflicts between patients and ensuring the overall visit to the ER is smooth, consistent and unique. The Front Desk Technician/Medical Assistant should be outgoing, friendly and capable of using their diplomacy skills to defuse potential issues.
Responsibilities:
- Interview patients to obtain medical information and history to record in electronic medical record (EMR)/Chart
- Record and measure vital signs, weight, and heigh. Vitals signs include respiration, temperature, and blood pressure. These values are to be recorded in the electronic medical record
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician. Clean and prepare exam rooms between each patient and at the end of your shift
- Schedule appointments and register new patients and place information in EMR
- Perform EKGs as directed and tests performed in the lab upon request
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens, and prepare them for testing
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians’ instructions to patients
- Organize exam rooms and keep inventory of supplies. If supplies are low, keep list and inform admin assistant so supplies can be ordered
- Verify patient’s insurance benefits for emergency room visits and procedures
- Perform duties of the laboratory testing personnel when called upon and as needed.
- Collect and process payments when asked/required to
- Maintain and keep medical records and files well organized and electronic record
- Complete front desk techs daily to-do list
- Ensure proper disposal of medical waste
- Follow daily instructions as dictated by administrative staff to include duties not above listed when called upon
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
