Job Title: Elementary Special Needs Teaching Assistant
Reports To: Special Needs Director
Time Status: Full-time - Monday-Friday 7:30 AM-3:00 PM
Job Description
The Special Needs Teacher’s Assistant will support the Elementary Special Needs classroom, working alongside a Special Needs teacher to serve students with special needs. This position entails individualized care and assistance to students with special needs, ensuring they can actively participate in learning and faith-based activities. This position promotes a positive, inclusive educational environment that reflects Christ, helping students grow academically, behaviorally, and spiritually.
Essential Job Requirements
- Create a welcoming environment for individuals with special needs to learn about the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
- Required to work under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher.
- Maintain student records as directed by the classroom teacher.
- Maintain all diagnostic tools as directed by the teacher.
- Assist in preparing and organizing instructional materials and equipment as directed by the teacher.
- Adapt to modified activities using a multi-sensory approach.
- Required to monitor the classroom to support educational activities.
- Must not discuss confidential school business or student records.
- Help to monitor students during academic areas, lunch, and specials.
- Initiative to identify ways to support the teachers and students in the classroom.
- Encourage desirable behavior, employing techniques such as behavior modification and positive reinforcement
- Implement behavioral strategies to support the individual needs of students.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Special Needs Director

- Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and a lifestyle of biblical integrity.
- Affirm and communicate doctrine consistent with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 revision, and The Nashville Statement.
- Fully supportive of the decisions and loyal to the mission and leadership of the school and the church.
- Passion for connecting with students and families in support of student success within a Christian environment.
