Duties
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans based on principles of applied behavior analysis (ABA) to promote skill development and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including grooming, dressing, feeding, and hygiene, to enhance independence.
- Collect accurate data on client behaviors and progress during therapy sessions to inform ongoing treatment plans.
- Support teaching strategies designed to improve communication, social skills, and adaptive behaviors tailored to each client’s needs.
- Maintain detailed and confidential medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with supervisors, therapists, educators, and families to ensure consistency in care plans and behavioral strategies.
- Participate in ongoing training related to behavioral health, special education, medical terminology, and behavior management techniques.
- Foster a positive and engaging environment that encourages clients’ participation and motivation during therapy sessions.
- Follow all safety protocols and ethical guidelines while providing patient care in accordance with professional standards.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or individuals with developmental disabilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles.
- Strong understanding of assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs) and behavior management strategies.
- Ability to collect, record, and analyze data accurately for progress tracking.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and care plans is advantageous.
- Excellent teaching skills combined with patience, empathy, and a positive attitude toward working with people with autism or other developmental challenges.
- Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or eligibility to obtain certification is required or preferred; ongoing professional development is encouraged.
