What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experienced Veterinary Assistant/Reception Float position at Grabill Vet Clinic?
Grabill Veterinary Clinic is looking for an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our small and large animal practice. This position will float between front desk/reception and assisting the veterinarians. We are currently a 2 doctor practice that services the Grabill area. Our goal is focused on improving patient care and providing excellent service and education to our clients. The ability to listen and communicate effectively and efficiently is a must. Flexibility in schedule is preferred. We are open late two nights per week (until 6pm) and are open two Saturday mornings per month.

Daily Job Expectations:
Daily challenges include, but are not limited to answering phones, scheduling clients, animal restraint, assisting the doctor(s), patient appointments, client education. Duties include:
- Assist Veterinarians with exams, procedures and treatments
- Monitor and record patient vitals, symptoms, and behaviors
- Administer medications and vaccinations
- Prepare, clear, and maintain exam areas
- Show care, concern and compassion for clients
- Provide client education
- Support lab work, stocking, and general facility cleaning
- Provide general nursing care
- Take radiographs of animals
- Administering first aid for emergencies
- Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by the Veterinarian
- Venipuncture and other specimen collection
- Monitoring animals under anesthesia
- Answer phone calls, provide information, and note client charts with communication
- Perform administrative duties such as scanning documents and photocopying
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
- Other duties as assigned
Physical:
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel
- Manual dexterity, ability to use hands to perform fine motor skills
- Ability to speak & hear
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Pay is based on experience, training, certifications and job performance after hire.
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age, able to pass a background check, and a drug screen.
