Duties
- Represent clients in criminal cases, including arraignments, hearings, trials, and plea negotiations
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis to build strong defense strategies
- Draft legal documents, motions, and pleadings with precision and clarity
- Investigate case facts by interviewing witnesses, reviewing evidence, and consulting with experts when necessary
- Negotiate plea agreements and alternative sentencing options to achieve favorable outcomes for clients
- Stay current on developments in criminal law, procedural rules, and relevant regulations
- Collaborate with investigators, paralegals, and other legal professionals to prepare cases effectively
- Willingness to travel
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of criminal law procedures and defense
- Strong negotiation skills to advocate effectively for clients’ interests
- Excellent legal drafting and writing skills for motions, briefs, and reports
- Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently within a fast-paced environment
- 3 years of criminal defense or prosecutorial experience
