A Different Kind of Opportunity in Behavioral Health

GPS Psychology & Anxiety Clinic is developing a new office in Emmett, Idaho, and we are seeking a master’s-level professional who wants meaningful clinical work, ongoing professional development, and a role in shaping services for the Emmett community.

An independent clinical license is not needed to apply. In fact, applicants without licensure are often an especially strong fit, as this role is designed to provide structured supervision, training, and skill development that many clinicians do not receive early in their careers. Psychological Service Extenders obtain a license specifically to work under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist. Direction and assistance would be provided on this process.

This position is built for those with a strong clinical foundation and motivation who may not yet have had full opportunity to reach their potential in traditional systems. It is also well-suited for licensed professionals who feel limited in their current roles and want to expand into assessment, evaluation, and integrated care.

We are especially interested in individuals who have felt “boxed in” by prior roles—for example, therapists who have primarily done talk therapy but want to grow into psychological testing, diagnostic evaluation, and broader clinical formulation; or school psychologists or ABA specialists who want to move beyond narrow system constraints into wider clinical practice.

We are seeking applicants with a master’s degree in human development, psychology, behavioral health, education, or related behavioral sciences. The key factor is a solid foundation in understanding people, development, behavior, cognition, relationships, or mental health—and a desire to build strong clinical skills.

What Is a Psychology Service Extender?

A psychology service extender works under the direction and license of a clinical psychologist. With training and demonstrated competency, the extender may assist in delivering a range of psychological services within the practice structure.

This role allows a master’s-level professional to build skills not typically available in narrowly defined positions.

You are not expected to arrive fully trained. Supervision and training are core components of the role, and responsibilities expand as competency is demonstrated.

Depending on development, duties may include:

- Diagnostic and biopsychosocial intake interviews
- Psychological and neuropsychological test administration and scoring
- Interpretation and integration of assessment data
- Assistance with psychological reports
- Feedback sessions
- Treatment planning
- Evidence-based psychotherapy
- Coordination with families, schools, and medical providers
- Development of specialty services

All services are provided within scope of training, supervision, competency, and applicable standards.

Training and Supervision

Training is central to our practice, not an add-on.

Providers receive ongoing consultation in assessment, psychotherapy, neurodevelopment, neuropsychology, psychophysiology, and integrated care.

Training may include:

- Diagnostic interviewing
- Case conceptualization
- Psychological and neuropsychological testing
- Scoring and interpretation
- Report writing
- CBT and exposure-based treatment
- Trauma-focused care
- Complex case management
- Biofeedback and neurofeedback
- Microcurrent neurofeedback
- EEG use/interpretation
- Clinical documentation
- Interdisciplinary coordination

Supervision intensity varies by experience. Early work involves closer review of notes, testing, reports, and clinical decisions, with oversight decreasing as competency increases.

Who May Be a Good Fit?

This role may be a strong fit for someone who:

- Has a relevant master’s degree and is not yet independently licensed, or is early in licensure and wants structured development
- Sees lack of licensure as an opportunity for deeper training rather than a limitation
- Completed a human-development or behavioral-science program not tied directly to licensure
- Has strong interest in clinical work but limited access to advanced training or assessment experience
- Feels constrained in therapy-only roles and wants to expand into assessment and formulation
- Has experience in school psychology, ABA, or structured systems and wants broader clinical practice
- Wants training in psychotherapy and psychological assessment
- Enjoys learning about behavior, development, cognition, and health
- Values CBT and biopsychosocial models

Prior testing or therapy experience is helpful but not required. We also value strong foundational education, judgment, interpersonal skills, and capacity to learn.

Compensation

Master’s-level compensation ranges from $35 to $55 per clinical hour.

Pay is based on preparation and demonstrated competency, not just degree title or licensure status.

Developing: $35–$40 per clinical hour

For providers needing structured training, close supervision, and frequent review.

Competent: $41–$48 per clinical hour

For providers who perform core duties well but still benefit from regular feedback and refinement.

Experienced: $49–$55 per clinical hour

For providers with strong clinical judgment, consistency, and ability to work with minimal corrective review.

Progression between levels is based on demonstrated growth and responsibility.

Clinical-hour pay applies to direct billable services. Administrative, training, and other nonclinical compensation will be discussed separately.

Doctoral-Level Opportunities

We also welcome doctoral or postdoctoral applicants. Compensation may range from $55 to $75 per clinical hour, depending on experience, licensure, competency, and supervision needs.

Degree level is considered, but actual performance and independence remain primary factors.

About the Emmett Office

This is a developing office, not a rigidly defined role.

We are seeking someone who wants to engage with the community, identify needs, and help shape services over time. You will have support from an established clinical team while also having room to grow and contribute.
