What are the responsibilities and job description for the GPI US Group Leader with Japanese Students position at GPI US?
The mission of GPI US is to empower today’s youth to thrive in a global world through educational study abroad programs. Our top-quality programs challenge, inspire, and educate our students to be better prepared for globalization. Many of our programs deal with global issues, leadership, cross-cultural understanding, problem-solving, and communicative English. We aim to maximize students’ experiences with thought-provoking seminars, engaging classes, excursions, peer conversations, & practical discussions.
GPI US is seeking an Activity Group Leader who is interested in gaining valuable experience with Japanese high school students visiting and learning in Amherst/South Hadley. Interest in global education, Japanese culture, and experience living abroad is a plus.
Duties Include:
- Actively engaging in deep discussions to help students improve communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and cultural and global awareness during scheduled evening sessions and throughout the entirety of the program. The students will value your relationship.
- Acting as their escort and mentor throughout the program activities, including workshops, city tours, etc.
- Working effectively in a team environment and following instructions from the Head Coordinator
- Being confident in leading or facilitating discussions and motivating & empowering Japanese students
- Providing constructive feedback to students and Discussion Leaders to support growth in communication, leadership, and critical thinking.
Requirements:
- Applicants should have an interest in education, international cultures, global issues, travel, and/or Japan.
- Applicants must be fluent in English (No Japanese language skill required)
- Applicants must be able to commit to all the dates in a given program.
Compensation: $28/hr
Dates/Times:
Program #1 South Hadley, MA
- Dates: July 24th, 25th, 27th, 29th, 2026
- Times: up to 8 hours on any given day in the above date range
Program #2: Amherst, MA
- Dates: July 27th - August 1st, 2026
- Times: up to 8 hours on any given day in the above date range
Program #3: South Hadley, MA
- Dates: August 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and August 9th, 2026
- Times: up to 8 hours on any given day in the above date range
