Geospatial Office Manager (OM) - Miami
Position Overview
The Geospatial Office Manager (OM) is a senior licensed professional responsible for overseeing the day-to-day
operations of a local geospatial office. This role reports to the Operations Director(s) and works closely with the Branch Manager to align local operations with strategic business objectives.
The OM coordinates survey production, scheduling, staffing, and equipment needs for the office. The OM is
responsible for all work performed at the office and ensures compliance with applicable board regulations,
jurisdictional surveying and mapping standards, and GPI Geospatial policies and procedures. This position is
accountable for quality, timeliness of deliverables, and effective utilization of staff and resources.
Primary Responsibilities
Office Operations & Supervision
• Coordinate, manage, and monitor the activities of office staff and departments.
• Oversee daily office operations to ensure efficiency and compliance.
Financial Oversight
• Monitor Projects' financials, multipliers, and cost to complete.
Human Resources Support
• Assist HR with identifying and communicating employee performance issues, attendance concerns, and
workplace disputes.
• Enforce company codes of conduct, ethics, and safety.
Production & Quality Management
• Monitor production output to ensure quality geospatial deliverables.
• Oversee local equipment, sensors, software, and hardware.
• Identify training and equipment needs and communicate resource gaps to Operations Director(s).
Communication & Collaboration
• Improve communication within the local office and across other offices.
• Support team-building initiatives and cross-office coordination.
Sales, Marketing & Client Support
• Support business development efforts by providing technical input, professional opinions, and local
coordination.
• Assist with growing new and existing client relationships.
IT Coordination
• Serve as the primary point of contact for local office IT-related issues.
Key Tasks & Duties
• Assign staff to projects based on availability, skills, experience, location, and project priority.
• Support staff development, recruitment, and training initiatives.
• Coordinate with the Resource Manager on field crew staffing.
• Facilitate production to ensure quality deliverables, effective coordination with field crews, and sound data
management practices.
• Ensure appropriate workload distribution to meet project schedules and deadlines.
• Track and report project budgets and profitability.
• Perform quality control reviews, including field data calculations and compliance checks.
• Maintain knowledge of state DOT surveying standards and procedures.
• Oversee surveying equipment and software implementation.
• Resolve boundary and right-of-way issues as required.
• Enforce GPI/GPI Geospatial field safety procedures.
• Distribute and enforce client guidelines, jurisdictional requirements, and project-specific standards.
• Manage client relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
• Support business development efforts, including proposal preparation and RFP responses.
• Open projects in accordance with company documentation and procedures.
• Prepare reports, draft and final invoices for public and private clients, including:
o State, county, and local agencies
o Federal government
o Private companies and individuals
• Assist staff with timesheets, expense reports, and administrative needs.
• Maintain and update electronic project files.
• Ensure strict adherence to project deadlines.
• Perform other administrative duties as needed to support office operations.
Coordination & Collaboration
• Coordinate with survey teams and project managers on project scheduling.
• Work with the Regional Survey Manager to improve productivity, prioritize work, and manage client
expectations.
• Coordinate with other survey offices to share staffing and equipment resources as needed.
Qualifications
• Minimum of 15 years of licensure and experience involving public and private clients within the
transportation, construction engineering, and inspection industries.
• Familiarity with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) forms and policies preferred.
• Experience with cost-plus, fixed-fee, lump-sum, and timecard-based billing.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience with Deltek VantagePoint preferred.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
