1. Assists in the execution of fiber optic network expansion and relocation projects, which may involve new OSP fiber optic plant construction. Support senior team members by gathering data for cost estimates and budgets, tracking project schedules, verifying material readiness, and coordinating documentation required for OSP contractor engagement.
Standards
- Assists in creating OSP plant designs and ensures compliance with engineering standards and best practices. Conducts site walks with Operations and customers to gather initial project information.
- Provides final approval of project completion to contractors and reports to management.
- Reviews and prepares special use permits, easements, and county/state permits for construction projects, focusing on local permits and simpler cases.
- Reviews special use permit guidelines with requesting agencies and collects necessary data and forms for submittal.
- Files and closes permits with permitting entities.
- Creates and completes Vetro mapping.
- Coordinates contractor and subcontractor activities during all phases of construction.
- Approves minor construction changes on the spot and handles problems and complaints on each project.
2. Performs other duties as assigned by management
Standards
- Makes final inspections when projects are completed and provides contractors with correction lists.
- Completes and maintains inventory sheets throughout the project lifecycle. Reports material usage.
- Responds to on-call outage notices and coordinates restoration efforts.
- Maintains a professional image and adheres to all company and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure contractors comply with safety standards and report unsafe conditions.
3. Follows all company and safety policies and procedures outlined in the GPC Employee Handbook and Policy Manual and GPC Accident Prevention Manual. Corrects or reports on unsafe working conditions.
Standards
- Follows all company policies and procedures outlined in the GPC Employee Handbook and Policy Manual and instructs subordinates to do the same.
- Ensures all reports (time sheets, expenses, etc.) are approved and forwarded to the Manager/Supervisor as scheduled.
- Follows all safety policies and procedures outlined in the GPC Accident Prevention Manual and instructs subordinates to do the same.
- Perform self-inspections of the workplace and work habits daily.
- Reports on unsafe working conditions.
- Wears personal protective equipment as required.
