A well-established and growing 50 year Heavy Civil Contractor in the Cleveland/Akron area is looking to add a Survey Technician / Construction Technology Specialist to support continued growth and investment in technology across the organization.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of surveying, GPS technology, machine control, and construction operations. The right individual will play a critical role in helping project teams, survey crews, and machine operators execute work accurately and efficiently in the field.
What You'll Be Doing
This is not a typical Survey Technician role. This position will be a key resource for field operations and construction technology initiatives across the company. The right person will have a direct impact on project execution by helping ensure equipment, operators, and field teams have the information they need to build projects accurately and efficiently.

The right individual will play a critical role in helping project teams, survey crews, and machine operators execute work accurately and efficiently in the field.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop, manage, and maintain GPS machine control models and files for field operations
- Convert engineering and design drawings into machine-ready GPS files for heavy equipment and survey crews
- Work closely with project managers, survey personnel, estimators, and field teams to ensure accurate project layout and grading information
- Support and troubleshoot GPS machine control systems in the field
- Assist with setup, calibration, and operation of GPS equipment and survey technology
- Review plans, specifications, and design files to ensure constructability and data accuracy
- Help drive technology initiatives that improve productivity and efficiency across projects
- Experience with GPS machine control systems
- Working knowledge of Topcon, Trimble, or similar GPS technologies
- Experience creating and managing machine control models
- Strong understanding of grading, earthwork, site development, utilities, and heavy civil construction
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, Trimble Business Center, Topcon MAGNET, or related software
- Understanding of survey layout, elevations, coordinate systems, and construction staking
- Ability to communicate effectively with both office and field personnel
