A Chambers-ranked North Carolina litigation firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its established defense practice at the Special Counsel level. Highly experienced attorneys with established practices or portable business may also be considered at the Partner level.

Candidates may be based in either Charlotte or Asheville, with a hybrid work arrangement available.

Responsibilities Include
- Independently managing an active litigation caseload from inception through resolution
- Developing litigation strategy and advising clients on risk and resolution
- Drafting and arguing substantive and dispositive motions
- Managing written discovery and complex legal research
- Taking and defending fact and expert depositions
- Representing clients at hearings, mediations, and other proceedings
- Preparing matters for trial
- Providing case evaluations, reporting, and strategic recommendations
- Collaborating with attorneys, paralegals, and support professionals
- Mentoring junior attorneys as appropriate
- Active North Carolina Bar admission
- Significant civil litigation experience
- Strong deposition, motion practice, and case-management experience
- Ability to independently manage sophisticated matters
- Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Strong client-facing communication and professional judgment
- Ability to manage multiple active matters and competing deadlines
