We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support our growing portfolio of heavy civil and infrastructure projects. This role will work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial tracking, reporting, and compliance throughout the lifecycle of each project.

Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support our growing portfolio of heavy civil and infrastructure projects. This role will work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial tracking, reporting, and compliance throughout the lifecycle of each project.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project financials from startup through closeout
- Track and analyze job costs, budgets, and forecasts
- Prepare and process billings, including progress billings and time & materials
- Monitor contract values, change orders, and cost adjustments
- Assist with month-end close, WIP reporting, and financial reconciliations
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure financial accuracy and performance
- Maintain subcontractor and vendor records, including compliance documentation
- Support audits and ensure adherence to company and client requirements
- Identify cost trends, risks, and opportunities to improve project performance
- Minimum 3 years of project accounting experience in construction
- Experience in heavy civil, highway, or concrete construction is highly preferred, but not required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred, but not required
- Strong understanding of job costing and construction accounting principles
- Experience with Sage 300 CRE or Viewpoint Vista is a plus
- Proficiency in Excel and financial reporting tools
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Excellent communication skills with both financial and operational teams
