Structural Steel Estimator

Location: Vineland, NJ (On-Site)

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.
• Review architectural and structural drawings, specifications, and bid documents.
• Perform material takeoffs using Bluebeam and estimating software.
• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing.
• Develop competitive bids while identifying value engineering opportunities.
• Collaborate with project management, detailing, fabrication, and field operations throughout the bidding process.
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, owners, and suppliers.
  
  

Qualifications

• 2 years of estimating experience within structural steel, miscellaneous metals, or steel fabrication.
• Strong understanding of both shop fabrication and field erection operations.
• Bluebeam proficiency is required. Experience with Tekla, Excel, or similar estimating software is highly preferred.
• Experience estimating miscellaneous metals is preferred, with structural steel experience also highly valued.
• Ability to read and interpret structural and architectural drawings.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience bidding open-shop projects is strongly preferred.
  
  

Ideal Candidate

Early Career (2-5 Years Experience)

• Bluebeam proficient.
• Coachable, eager to learn, and looking for long-term career growth.
• Comfortable working alongside experienced estimators while developing into a lead role.
  
  

Experienced Estimator (5 Years Experience)

• Proven ability to independently prepare competitive estimates and consistently win work.
• Experience managing bids ranging from $10K to $5M in value.
• Strong understanding of miscellaneous metals and structural steel estimating from bid through award.
  
  

Compensation

• 2-5 Years Experience: $60,000-$85,000
• 5 Years Experience: $85,000-$110,000
  
  

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and demonstrated estimating success.
