Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal and administrative support to attorneys within bankruptcy and litigation practices
- Draft, edit, proofread, and format legal documents and correspondence
- Prepare and file documents in federal, state, and appellate courts using CM/ECF and eCourts platforms
- Ensure timely and accurate service of filed documents in compliance with applicable court rules
- Maintain organized electronic and physical case files and manage calendaring/deadline systems
- Communicate professionally with attorneys, clients, court personnel, opposing counsel, experts, and witnesses
- Assist with hearings, mediations, depositions, and trial preparation, including exhibits and trial notebooks
- Coordinate subpoenas, discovery materials, and legal research assignments
- Assist with attorney travel arrangements, CLE registrations, and scheduling needs
- Manage incoming calls, mail, deliveries, and occasional local courthouse or shipping-related errands
- Perform additional legal support tasks as assigned
- Minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience required
- Experience in commercial bankruptcy and/or civil litigation preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred; Associate degree with relevant experience considered
- North Carolina Notary Public certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Strong understanding of:
- Bankruptcy Code
- Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure
- Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
- Local court filing rules and procedures
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, as well as Adobe Acrobat/PDF tools
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented legal environment while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities
