We are working with a client company in the Urbana-Champaign, IL area seeking a CNC Machinists/Set-up Operator for 2nd shift.

Ideal Background
- 3-10 years of CNC machining experience (mills, lathes, 5-axis)
- Comfortable with setup and operation, not just button-pushing
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and tight tolerances
- Experience making offsets and basic program edits (Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, etc.)
- Strong knowledge of tooling selection and cutting parameters Experience with first article inspections and in-process quality checks
- Micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges
- Understanding of feeds & speeds, materials (steel, aluminum, stainless)
- Fixture setup and part changeovers
- Preventative machine maintenance basics
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement exposure (nice to have)
- High attention to detail and quality mindset
- Ability to run multiple machines (if applicable)
- Consistent attendance and reliability
- Team-oriented but able to work independently
- Comfortable in a fast-paced job shop or medium-volume production environment
- CAD/CAM exposure (Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.)
- Multi-axis machining (4th/5th axis)
- Prototype short-run experience
- Troubleshooting scrap and improving cycle times
